Graphically the most impressive 3D upgrade in N64 generation was Pokemon to Pokemon Stadium, too bad gameplay sucked. Pokemon X/Y were the first Pokemon 3D handheld games, and were kinda impressive still didn't offer much to gameplay.
Metroid Hunters sucked though was near unplayable with the stylus
this looks cool and got a retro quality like it came out of cuphead but on the long run i don't see the point to keep using this crank. Unless there's a final fantasy or pokemon quality RPG that can take advantage of this thing, i don't think you can play these more than few minutes.
@kobashi100 it was more mainstream and reigned more at charts but kick off 2 multiplayer was still the game of choice for hardcore fans, it was the first e-sports
Whats that ridiculous gamepad. There's no way to play kick off 2 with this. Everyone i knew used Commodore 64 Competition Pro. Well its a cheap buy anyway. Its cheap but its not FPGA-based so is it really that better than Win-UAE? Anyway for me the best 2 most fun games to play local 2 players are: Kick off 2 and north and south
@GC-161 But is it a safe bet? Not sure anymore. Maybe they save them for Switch 2. We had GBA games on 3ds but only as a thank you gift for early purchasers.
Seems like it’s the best way to play GB mono/GBC games but not better for GBA games than an original IPS V2 (except better battery/sleep mode/save options). Ofc it’s not a real Gameboy and that’s important too. I still hope Nintendo release a Gameboy Classic, and yeah can’t afford to spend so much money for a product I may receive in 2023.
@Bret true, but it can already play gameboy mono games emulating the 4 shades of grey using pattern fills. People can get creative, i understand its not ideal
this is a very niche product. But on the long run it will get hacked and it will run GBA games on a nice screen, so i guess it will have a purpose. But i think this unique game delivery digitally will be a disaster. This article serve a purpose. People are craving for a cute handheld. We are all waiting for the Gameboy Classic revival. I just saw this new sex education tv series and there's a girl playing with her gameboy color in 2021.
Nintendo is too huge even for MS to buy. Disney spent US$71.3 billion to buy 21st century fox. Nintendo would cost 100-200 billion. Thats too much even for them
some of you are missing the point. This is just a collector's item. See it as a homage to the legacy coin op machines. Its not the most practical way for retro gaming. I think it looks cool.
There are so many better spiritual successors to tamagotchi like hatch on iOS (with a little pokemon flavour). I'm afraid it will be near unplayable now but i guess thats not the point.. There's room for it next to nes and snes mini. Maybe its good for a gift to some old girlfriend that used to play with those.

Re: Analogue 3D Is An FPGA-Based N64 With 4K Output
Hm maybe they should make an Analogue Station or Analogue Cast instead. N64 is so dated and you can play it (via emulation) on Switch so dunno

Re: Archivists Rescan Ken Sugimori's Pokémon Artwork, And The Difference Is Incredible
So how long before we see hacked GBC roms with the new artwork? Don't think it will be too easy to make these work on a GBC

Re: Can't Get An Analogue Pocket? This Cheap And Dinky Handheld Might Plug The Gap
The screen is Gameboy (like Analogue Pocket) or Gameboy Advance ratio?
