Loved the Prodigy. Like most of the kids that grew up around MTV, the Firestarter video was how I discovered them, and Breathe and Smack were part of a fantastic album.
That cheat code for Street Fighter II actually shows up again in the next version on Super NES, Street Fighter II Turbo. Putting in that code on Player 2's controller allowed you to increase the Turbo speed setting from 4 stars to 10, making the gameplay ridiculously fast. Definitely a fun variation.
I remember having to pay $70 for new games back in the Super Nintendo days. Heck, Secret of Evermore was $80 when it first released. We've been spoiled by game prices since then, and obviously a buck isn't worth what it used to be. $70 for TOTK isn't going to prevent me from getting it, and I'm sure it'll be worth it with as much as I'm planning on playing that game. Hopefully the inevitable expansion won't also be $70 - I might have an issue with that.
Why does Joe Hoops have the same stank face in every one of his pictures? Is there a time when he isn't angry? I want to know more about this character's emotional state. Does he have this same face when he's a party? Hanging with the family? Out at the beach?
Fascinating article, thanks. The Game Genie was a huge deal for NES players in the U.S. I remember getting mine and struggling with getting it properly placed into my NES the first time. There were a bunch of games I'd given up on and never played anymore that I suddenly was playing a lot (Blaster Master!) once I had invincibility/powered up weapons/etc.
I understand the demand for an all-in-one retro console that you can plug into a TV and enjoy multiple systems' worth of games without cluttering your entertainment center with boxes and wires, but come on, man. Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk.
"COLECO Chameleon is a versatile new video-game system that...will accurately play classic games from the past. The COLECO Chameleon also has the ability play brand-new games..."
So, it does play older systems' games, or it doesn't? I'm confused.
@abe_hikura I believe the PSOne was a 32-bit system, and it had a dual-stick controller later in its life. I don't know if this system will have the capability to play PSOne games, but maybe they want to leave open the possibility in the future after upgrades?
I think the companies still would've gone their separate ways. Nintendo's philosophy since the Super Nintendo has always focused around affordability, and at some point the divide between the type of machine Sony wanted to produce and what Nintendo wanted to produce would've been so great that Sony would eventually go its own way.

I have yet to visit Japan, but I have been to the Nintendo store in New York. Incredible experience.

Re: Random: What Happens When You Remove Charles Barkley From His Own Video Game?
@CptProtonX Ahh...if you scroll down, there's some "Same Model" pictures. There, now he doesn't look so casual, I mean angry.
