@Xerox1919 The impression I get is no one read the manual and just learned how to play the game by playing it which is mostly what manuals were made for: instructions. But it's great to hear I'm not the only one who liked manuals.
I get it's annoying having to cut material because of region languages, I was half joking. They probably should just have made the manuals bigger for PAL users or offered more regional variants since some games did they regional variant releases.
"and one of the great pleasures of buying a new game was that time spent in the car on the way back from the shop, leafing through said manual to scrub up on things prior to booting up the actual product when you got home."
You could have fooled me! My understanding is most gamers ignored the instructions, probably why developers eventually abandoned manuals and included 20 minute tutorials.
"while games released in Europe and other PAL regions were cursed with instructions that came in multiple languages,"
Oh no, not multiple languages! Heaven forbid people in other parts of Europe can read instructions in their own language. 🤦♂️
@Eocene84 I think if they want to do a good job they will need a bigger budget. I thought Rebel Assault 2 was shot on film but I've learned it was shot on video, so the same could have happened to Jedi Knight. Even still, they'd need to locate the video masters or dallies. Hopefully Disney can help out a bit.
@MysticWangForce If they want to do a full remaster it would be a lot of work and it would look weird adding new graphics to then contrast that with grainy FMV with low res backgrounds.
I do hope it gets a proper remaster but I can think of lots of other games that would probably be easier to remaster.
@MysticWangForce @Eocene84 It's a HUGE undertaking, that's why. It's not just the fact they'd have to recreate all the levels. The negatives or video for the FMV would need to be located. Then the low res backgrounds for the FMV would need to be redone.
It's a lot of work. If they do that I will be very impressed.
@turboxray I kind of have to agree here a bit. There's a tendency to praise any homebrew Mega Drive game that gets released. I'm sure the game is pretty solid though.
Looks like Analogue has panicked a bit about the response to the delays and has decided to release it early...which means compatibility may not be great. 🤔
When it comes to single player games I use cheats and walkthroughs due to my poor reflexes and coordination. Besides, I play games because I want the experience, not the frustration so I appreciate the cheats.
@Kushan I agree!
@smoreon Cheats have been replaced with trainers anyway.
There's a massive problem in the way of doing something this which is support due to awareness. Will developers want to make a specific indie game work with this technology and with different upgrades to new tech to make homebrew games occurring a lot will this tech get outdated eventually? With console specific games developers know they have to keep to limitations but with homebrew developers they might not want to feel constricted by how the hardware of this console operates.

@iheartpizzallc I think you're on course for at least a very good game from what I've seen so far so well done guys! 😊

@The_Nintendo_Pedant I thought I was the only one... 🤣
Re: Here's Super Mario 64 Running On PlayStation
@SegaAges I still think this might make a few people at Nintendo upset. 😂
Re: Here's Super Mario 64 Running On PlayStation
Well we saw Spyro on N64 so I guess it works both ways. 😂
@hste I wonder if they've stopped grifting off the Super Sega debacle?
Re: Genesis / Mega Drive Fighter 'Go For It!' Is Being "Remade From The Ground Up"
"We'll gladly put [it] up against any fighting game ever released for the MD"
Bold statement. We will see...

@willstancilfan Probably both. 😂

@JJtheTexan Harsh and not really true.
@MARl0 I'm a fan of some of Acclaim's output. I'm not one to write them off.

Re: BitBeamCannon's Latest Neo Geo & Sega Genesis Game Is Mega Man In Everything But Name
I like the fact this new game has a variety of locations unlike every Mega Man game that looks exactly the same.

Re: Analogue 3D Goes Back Up For Pre-Order Next Week, But There's A Catch
@KayFiOS Their stuff was overpriced before the tariffs.
Re: Unreleased 3DO M2 Gets "First Home Port" In The Form Of Konami's Battle Tryst
That's great news to hear! 👍
Re: Analogue 3D Goes Back Up For Pre-Order Next Week, But There's A Catch
" but the price is getting a bump thanks to President Trump's infamous tariffs."
I don't believe that excuse, Analogue's stuff has always been overpriced, especially for people outside of the US.
Re: MiSTer Rival MARS FPGA Is Dead
So apparently it was completed a year ago and then he just vanished? I wonder what happened? Even with commitments he should have liaised with others.
Re: 'Trigger Happy' Is A Sumptious Visual Tour Of Gaming's Greatest Controllers
I hope it covers the Power Play Cruiser joystick. That was an awesome joystick, the best for computer gaming in 8-bit and 16-bit.

He's correct. There was more improvisation back in the 80's.
Re: Feature: "It's Like Time Travel" - Nightdive's Studio Head On Resurrecting Outlaws, LucasArts Forgotten FPS Western
Speaking of Dark Forces they're really going to run into problems if they decide to remaster Jedi Knight.
I hope they can also go out of their comfort zone and remaster games from other genres like point and click.
Re: Former Sega Composer Hiroshi Kubota, Who Worked On Sorcerian, Sonic And Moonwalker, Has Passed Away

Re: Review: Analogue 3D - The Ultimate Way To Play Nintendo 64?
"and diehard N64 fans will immediately notice that it lacks the iconic three-prong setup seen on Nintendo's original pad."
They probably had a mould lying around. Maybe it was too expensive to create a new mould to use.
Expect this to be supported for 8 months until the next Analogue console announcement. 🙄
Re: "With Tariffs Etc, It Takes Time" - The Creators Of THE A1200 Respond To Recent US "Pre-Order Woes"
@Saki-Endo Well the Amiga was released in the 80's but yeah the 1200 was released in the 90's.

Highly impressive work! 😲
Re: "We Have Gone On So Many Adventures Together" - Video Game Icon Rebecca Heineman Has Passed Away, Aged 62

Future need to bring it back permanently or sell it to these guys.
@PKDuckman Was it?
Re: Review: Final Fight MD (Mega Drive) - Arguably The Best Version Of Capcom's Belt-Scrolling Classic
Have to disagree. For all the stuff it adds I think the Mega CD version might be superior thanks to its audio.
