@Razieluigi There is nothing philosophical about it, the Polymega is Emulation from the Start. Using the original Module or Disk doesn't change the Fact, that it emulates the System. The Module or Disc is only the Medium with the Information of the Game, but the Hardware runs it. In case of the Polymega, it emulates the Hardware. @Coalescence Right.
The Screen Size is just a perfect Match for old Games and i was surprised how good my beloved Super Nintendo Games look on that LCD Screen. I also really like to play Playstation Games on it on the Couch,
But yes, it is to weak for N64 Games.
But i am glad it has more support with 351 Elec, Diablo through Devilution is great and Turtles Palooza Thing Game (forgot the Name ).
Got myself the Anbernic rg351v for Christmas and was surprised, what a nice quality Handheld!
Got it especially for the Aspect Ratio and because i was in the Mood for Playstation Games.
Super Nintendo, Megadrive and Playstation Games look really really really good on it! It is not as pixelated as on a big Screen and comes somehow closer to a CRT because of it.
Speaking of ROMs, i ripped my own Stuff, also because i wanted the german or spanish Versions.
And i do not fear that someone will bring me into Charge for Games i have loaded that aren't sold (besides on eBay for crazy Sums) and the original Company doesn't exists any longer.
The Retrode still does the same and didn't spread more Rom Sites than were before. There will be absolutly no Damage from sharing in private some Roms with Friends, this happened before in a much wider Way with copied Audio and Video Casettes. Thats why many Countries have a Tax on every Medium sold, be it a CD-Burner, Hard Drive, USB-Stick, SD-Card etc. :
Because it has than the same Scheme to run and jump as in Super Mario World and even the Super Gameboy did it that wise back then
Edit: The Angle is to steep in the diamond layout.
Thats why most games since the Super Nintendo changed from A and B to B and Y.
Your thumb comes from below, the angle holding it is cozier.
There are ways to dump roms and put them on a sd cart. Retrode2 for Modules and any CD/DVD-Drive for Discs. The Sega Roms are even purchasable on Steam, you can use them on a everdrive or emulator of your choice.
And Games that are abandoned and the Originals costs several houndreds of your Currency? Get it where you can, even if not legal, nobody will bring you to court. The original Creators will se no Cent from the second Hand Market.
@mikegamer The Anbernic ones work with Retroarch, you can change the Button Mapping also per Game if you wish. As stated, N64 and Dreamcast Emulation is crap, but 8bit, 16 bit and Playstation work really great.
I couldn't buy a Analogue without Credit Card and my GBC is under Repair.
I also wanted to play Playstation Games, so i tried the Anbernic rg351v.
As a FPGA Snob, i can really really recommend the software emulation bases Anbernic rg351v!
The build Quality is pretty great, Buttons feel great and the 2D Systems and Playstation work great.
Can't recommend it for N64 or dreamcast and you have to rebind Buttons for the NES/Gameboy to B=A and Y=B.
The Screen is great and has the correct aspect Ratio for old Games.
140€ on Amazon.
@lemonjellydude
Ha overread your comment.
I also like that you can see through the case, like my og Gameboy
Will buy one, have a GBC modded and it died a Week after. Ordered a better Voltage Thingy and i am still waiting for the Repait... Seems as the original GBC hardware isn't as good as the GB Hardware. So i'll pick a modern Clone Device.
@BloodNinja It is a little Machine with a FPGA-Chip, that one can adopt the Logic of other Chips. So the Hardware can "transform" into a SNES, Megadrive/Genesis, Neogeo et cetera and acts exactly as these. So it has not the Issue Software Emulation has, but also not all the Advantages (save states).
@BloodNinja
Nowadays every medicore PC can run Machines up to the PS2 Era.
It would be much cheaper to connect a Laptop to the TV, pair it with a controller and play whatever you want.
To play original CDs and Dvds isn't a Problem, if your Lapto/PC has a Drive.
For Cartdridges you need something as the Retrode2.
Better, buy a small PC that can run also modern Games.
Win 10 and Steam Big Picture make it easy to control via Gamepad.
Play modern and old Games, more Value for your Money.
Edit:
And for a more original Experience, just the MISTer.
It is in the End cheaper as to buy any HD Clone Console, even if they are so sexy as the Analogue ones :>
More so if you have original Hardware and a good Upscaler.
The Hardware Components and the Limitations are Crap. The Controllers are so damn limited in what they are capable at, there will be not much possible with them.
Also, many of the announced Games are playable on Smartphones.
Why should anybody spend Money on such a System.
Go buy a small PC, hook it up on the TV and have Fun. Windows 10 and Steam Big Picture are making a Console out of any PC and you can play so much more.
Or stay with a Console. As a Causal a used last Generation Console do what it should and the Games are cheap.
Hmm well, more Options are welcome, but the stock Gameboy can be used with an AC-Adapter and there are not as many Games you'll face where you can't save, have a password or are as long as you can't stop after a few Minutes to swap out the Batteries.
I am using mine with rechargebles and when i have to recharge them, i put the other rechargebles in that i have here.
Now that it is Summer i'll use the Gameboy more on the Balcony, it is the only Console you can play in bright Daylight.
Yep, would have been nice to have another Castlevania in that Style. Discovered Castlevania on the N64 last Year and it is a fun Game, it has sometimes a Resident Evil Vibe to it.
@Damo Yep, i can see the Appeal that you don't need all the extra Thingies to make it work. But than again, i can just use my Laptop via HDMI and my 8Bitdo Controller via Bluetooth :>
