I'm so glad I don't collect physical anymore. Except for some big first party Switch game, from time to time. Paying high prices because FOMO, and dealing with these damn companies, would just drive me insane.
People buy even the worst crap game, just to have a complete LRG collection.
I'm so glad I got out of retro collecting a couple of years ago. I got a collection (maybe 60 games total) of my favorite NES, SNES and Mega Drive games. When it comes to the rest, I play roms and iso files on my FPGA or modded systems. There is just no way in hell, I'm gonna pay these insane scalper prices, for original copies, especially discs. Plus, the older I get (48 now), the less patience I have with dealing with all the clutter.
I wish that Nintendo would split up the handheld and home consoles again. I miss their dedicated handhelds, especially the DS and 3DS. And they were MUCH easier to put in a pocket and bring anywhere.
I want Nintendo to make a proper home console, without the limitations, of portable hardware. But I guess we're stuck with the Switch concept from now on. Though, I wonder if Switch 2 will become as big as the current one. With plenty of powerful portables out there now, that also can be docked to a TV/monitor, Nintendo might have to do something different again in the near future.
Would be fun, of the released a collection of these games, ported to modern VR systems, with improved framerates. Remember trying out Dactyl Nightmare, back in 94. But it was soooo slow and clunky, that I never bothered trying it again ๐ Wish I had the chance to try the other titles though.
The problems with these glorified sd cards, is that they can easily be corrupted, by updates etc.
Sure, you can get a replacement from Evercade, but what happens when Blaze ends the Evercade line?
I fear none of the "carts" will survive 10-20 years from now.
I collected the games I used to own, on the NES, back in the 80:s. Around 40-45 games total. But after that, I quit collecting cart/discs. I have some Analogue consoles, for the few SNES and Mega Drive carts I have, but mostly use them for roms. And I also modded my Saturn and PS2, to run games from SD cards and HDD. I don't ever wanna deal with discs and dying lasers ever again. Collecting physical retro games, just isn't fun anymore. It becomes too much clutter.
The MARS project, is basically the Intellivision Amico of the FPGA world. Same drama, and the leader is just as bad as Tallarico, when it comes to acting like an idiot, not taking criticism well, and coming up with a lot of *****.
Problem with a lot of these modern screens, is that the framerate on the gameboy (approx 59.7hz), isn't a perfect match for the refresh rates on the replacement screens, which can leads to stutter/dropped frames, mostly noticeable on side scrollers.
"Just FYI, the music in the video shouldnโt be seen as the definitive soundtrack for Earthion. Iโm still on the hunt for a fresh shmup music style thatโs totally new to you, "

Gonna try this. Been playing VB games on my Quest 3, and there some really fun games in the small library. It's a shame that Nintendo won't release them on a modern system, especially the excellent Wario game...
@-wc- Yeah, thankfully, we didn't have social media back then. We had nutcases complaining about Heavy Metal, in the news, but they were easily ignored ๐
People are so easily offended by EVERYTHING these days.
I wonder how they would have survived the games back in the 80:-90:s and especially 2000:s ๐
Due to a programing error, Hammerin Harry 2 doesn't work on a PAL machine. I don't understand, why they didn't fix that, before the release. Harry 1 works on PAL though.

Re: This NES Clone Has RGB, S-Video And HDMI Output
With shipping to Sweden, it totals to around 600 euros.
No thanks!
Re: Review: AYANEO Pocket S - Premium Android Power That's Perfect For Emulation
Better to spend the money on a Steam Deck, with is amazing with emulators, plus a gigantic PC library of games.
If this was $249, it would be more tempting.
And as mentioned above. They need to slow down with these releases. Feels like there's a new model every week.

Re: You Can Now Play Tetris On A Slurpee Cup
Feels like back in the 80s, where we basically got built in lcd games and clocks, in every piece of tat imaginable ๐
Re: M2 Currently Working On "Several Projects Behind The Scenes"
Can you turn off the damn clutter, in the borders?
Re: Limited Run Games Accused Of Shipping "Premium" 3DO Games On CD-Rs
Another fine reason, why I don't support this company.

Re: FPGA Vs Software Emulation - Which Is Best? We Asked Four Experts To Find Out
I prefer FPGA now, and I own the AnaloguePocket, Super NT and Mega SG.
But i still use emulation for stuff not yet available for the Pocket.

Re: Prince of Persia Meets Streets Of Rage In The Stylish New Action Game Moon Samurai
Amazing 2D animations.
I just hope it's not yet another rogue-like.
Re: "There's A Lot Of People Who Still Don't Know About Playdate"
Would like to try one. But the shipping and custom charges, makes it too expensive.
But they really should add backlight to the screen.
Re: 'Beyond The Ice Palace' Is Getting A Sequel, 36 Years Later
This doesn't play anything like the first game.
They should have made it in the style of Ghost n Goblins, not yet another metroidvania.
It's like making a sequel to Castlevania, but it plays like Mega Man 2 instead.
But as long as it doesn't include any damn Souls/Rogue elements, then I'll give it a try.
Re: Have We Been Wrong About Ultimate Play The Game's Name All This Time?
We always called it Ultimate.
Play the game, just felt like a slogan.
Just like the Imagine logo, which said "the name of the game" underneath.

Dammit, not Limited Run again....
Hope someone else releases the game on a cart in Europe.
Otherwise I'm fine with buying a rom.
