Re: Soapbox: The Trouble With Limited Run Games, And How To Fix It

lemonjellydude

Personally I’ve never had any of these issues and I’ve been ordering occasionally from them since 2019. I know they can be slow but that has never been an issue for me as they have always been upfront with their production times , if you just want the game then it’s best to avoid a special edition as these are the ones that you hear take forever. I’m really looking forward to the tomb raider trilogy and will be interested to see what they put in the deluxe edition . I have to absolutely love the game to bother with a deluxe and I agree most of these special editions are full of useless junk. The 3DO CD-R scandal on the other hand is not acceptable, I mean did they think no one would notice ? I do agree they need to up their game a bit as they are getting a lot of bad press at the moment , hopefully they will introduce a European store soon as well as the shipping Costs are way too much to the UK

Re: 'Evercade Alpha' Listing Hints At New Hardware In 2024

lemonjellydude

I’m intrigued and I’ve bought the original evercade hardware but I actually lost interest when it came to the evercade EXP and I’ve actually never even opened the box 😱I think I’ve reached the stage where I am just too overloaded with unopened games/too much backlog. I love that they have tomb raider onboard but for me I already have the remastered collection on switch so it’s not really necessary for me to buy it again , I would jump at the chance if they end up releasing the other 2 PS1 era tomb raiders ( last revelation and chronicles). Very curious to see what they do next

Re: Best Sega Game Gear Games Of All Time

lemonjellydude

Huge fan of the game gear ! My first ever console so has a huge place in my heart . Having sold off my old game gear a few years back I decided to treat myself this year to a ‘new’ model ! A lovely customised one from retrosix! Not cheap but so good being able to play the original hardware with a lovely new screen !

Re: Evercade Is Getting An "EXP" Upgrade, Complete With Irem And Toaplan Collections

lemonjellydude

I have the original collectors edition and the collectors VS and the purple edition. I haven’t even opened all the games as I’m not too keen on the screen on the handheld and I bought the VS more as a future collectible as I rarely play consoles on the TV. I was quite divided when I heard this announced however I’m such a sucker for collectors edition so … yep I bought one . This does look to be a nice upgrade on the original handheld so I may actually play this

Re: Can't Get An Analogue Pocket? This Cheap And Dinky Handheld Might Plug The Gap

lemonjellydude

It looks really cool , seems an odd recommendation which states emulation Isn’t brilliant … surely that’s the most important aspect for one of these that it runs the games well …. I would highly recommend the anbernic rg351v which has the same sort of layout but the emulation quality is very very good and has way more emulator options including Dreamcast ( which runs surprisingly well) that costs about £100

Re: Hardware: Analogue Pocket Review - Potent FPGA Power In Portable Form

lemonjellydude

I have to say I’ve always been interested in this but thought it was pricey , also the fact it’s actual hardware and runs actual carts doesn’t instantly appeal to me however…. I always loved the game gear it was my machine when I was younger and I love the idea of having a new way of playing it and other handhelds. Whilst I know buying carts is no longer cheap this could be a good investment and a great way to just say play a few of your favourites ! I’m gonna see if I can bag one but I will only be interested if it’s in Q1 I don’t want to wait a year. I guess considering how much attention this is getting it’s probably unlikely I will nab one But fingers crossed 🤞

Re: Pre-Orders Go Live For The Evercade Retro Handheld System

lemonjellydude

@ShinyUmbreon the comment was in general and not aimed at anyone in particular. I'm just surprised at the negativity towards something that has a physical element to it. its clear that a lot of people still love the physical element of getting a cartridge and these guys are really trying hard to get something onto the market that is completly legal and is very well priced. I guess people cant make there minds up till its been tested that I understand I just thought the retro-heads here would love something like this. I cant wait to test it out! even though I have pre-ordered I can still cancel my order at any time, so Im looking forward to seeing how this pans out

Re: Pre-Orders Go Live For The Evercade Retro Handheld System

lemonjellydude

I cannot understand the negativity here, Nintendolife often features reviews and news on other retro systems like polymega and mega drive mini so it’s coverage on this new retro inspired system is valid. I’ve been following this closely and I’m part of the growing community on Facebook and they are the nicest people , they answer all questions and welcome suggestions. They even put a solution in place where people who didn’t want to pay all money in full for the limited edition black set with all games could pay half now . I really like what they are trying to achieve . It appeals to a certain set of people so it’s obviously not designed to be competing with Nintendo . It’s for fans of retro games from older systems who like physical products . I really hope it does well . They’ve already sold half of the limited edition already !

Re: This Exclusive Evercade Console Is Looking Pretty In Black

lemonjellydude

Personally love this , even if it never gets any more cartridges beyond what’s announced it would make at the very least an interesting attempt at making a dedicated retro console handheld . I really hope it does well as they really are trying hard to bring something that appeals to people who love collecting ! Those cartridges look awesome !

Re: The Evercade Handheld System Will Get New Retro-Style Indie Games, As Well As Old Classics

lemonjellydude

I am surprised by the hostility towards this, There seem to be a lot of people that love the physical product and this is physical only. Yes it hasnt been seen running yet but Im sure we will soon enough. Those cart boxes look great and such good value as well. This to me is what other people should be doing. The switch does now have a lot of retro compilations but theres always room for more!

Re: Exclusive: The Evercade Handheld Is Getting Earthworm Jim, Clayfigher And Midnight Resistance

lemonjellydude

im really interested in this, Im not totally convinced it will succeed but I genuinely like what they are trying to do.
In a way it reminds me of the Game Gadget that launched in 2012. Trying to also legally release old retro games, this wasnt cartridge based like this but the concept was similar. It failed miserably and was an appaling piece of kit that basically had a handful of games. This does look like a lot more of a polished effort and as long as they can ensure the emulation is of a good quality then it could do well. The other part which is obvious is the 3rd party support. they have a few names on board but ultimately this thing is only going to succeed if the content is what people want. I really hope they have a lot more stuff to show.

Re: First Images Of Cartridge-Based Retro Console The Evercade Revealed

lemonjellydude

if they can license some decent retro games, stick 10-20 on a cartridge at say £15-20 a pop I actually think they could be on to a winner. it all depends on how well this console performs and what games they have managed to license. The concept is actually really good and depending on what else they have lined up I would happily get this for a different experience.

Re: Polymega Launch Trailer Reveals Sega Saturn Support

lemonjellydude

I didnt relise it would be only available over in the US, I like the idea of this but it sounds too expensive for my needs.I nearly pre-ordered the new atari VCS until I saw all of the import, vat and shipping fees. too much. plus I havent seen a proper review of it yet.

Re: Atari Comes Under Fire For Seemingly Knowing Very Little About Its Crowdfunded VCS Console

lemonjellydude

I very nearly backed this but thankfully I saw sense if this article is anything to go by . The thing that annoyed me was that even though I could get a special deal for signing up early when u factor in the shipping , vat and import charges to the uk it meant there was no saving basically . Also I think alarm bells should always be ringing when a company is so vague about the end product. I genuinely like the idea but this seems unlikely to either get off the ground or of it does more than likely will sink quickly as there will probably be very little support for it . I would love to be proved wrong !

Re: Hardware Review: Retro-Bit Generations

lemonjellydude

Whilst i understand the raspberry pi idea, i think the beauty of these pre-loaded machines is just that . its all ready to go! i dont think a lot of people want to faff around with a raspberry pi putting it all together etc.

Re: Hardware Review: Retro-Bit Generations

lemonjellydude

Thats a real shame, ive bought a nes mini and i would have bought one of these but whilst the game list doesnt bother me as i liked the idea of some random obscure titles. the emulation has to be good! the nes mini is perfect! any new plug and play needs to model itself on that. if they can have near that quality or better there onto a winner!.

Re: Coleco Chameleon Saga Draws To A Close As Creator Finally Pulls The Plug

lemonjellydude

Its a shame this didnt get very far but I guess looking at whats happened it was never going to happen in the first place.
It looked awful basically being a jaguar in disguise but I really liked the concept but ultimately it never would have caught on. If it had gone into production it would probably have ended up just another failure like the game gadget or ouya. Not sure I beleve this guys story but at least we know the project is over rather than it remaining a mystery!
